Top Five Tuesday

It seems that the topic of choice right now is New Year’s. 2017 is almost here and I feel like that is what everyone is talking about. I can’t say I’m not excited either, because in fact, I am! I am so ready to get rid of 2016. It seems we will not be discussing 2016 in the distant future. We can just skip over it for all I care!

Today’s blog is going to be a bit shorter. I am going to go over the five book series I need to finish in 2017. Most of these books have already been published, I just have been slacking on my end. I feel so much better making time for books and reading again. I have to say I haven’t been the most faithful reader over the last few years. I’m glad I’m getting my groove back! So let’s get to this list.

1. The Raven Cycle Series by Maggie Stiefvater

I have finished the first book in this quartet. I even have the second book downloaded to my Nook library. I just got caught up in so many other things when the last two books came out that I completely forgot. I will make sure to finish this in 2017 or so help me God! I love Maggie’s work and I am ashamed of myself for not finishing this series sooner. Everyone raves about this series, so I know the rest of it is good.

2.  The Internment Chronicles Series by Lauren DeStefano

internment-chroniclesJust like what happened with The Raven Cycle, I totally got carried away with not finishing The Internment Chronicles. I finished Perfect Ruin and even read a bit of Burning Kingdoms and then I don’t know what the F#%k happened! I think I stopped reading this series because another book had caught my attention at the time. Like I have said before, I need to learn how to read multiple books at once. It may work in my favor later on. I think that’s how a lot of people read 100 books a year. I know I’m a fast reader, but I also know that life gets in the way sometimes.

3. The Earthbound Series by Aprilynne Pike

I loved Aprilynne Pike’s very first series Wings (The Laurel Series). So I thought, “Hey…why not get her next series when it comes out?” Of course I had to support the author and I bought Earthbound when it was published. I didn’t even begin the darn book! I kept telling myself to start it and I never did. Why am I like this?! I don’t understand myself frankly. This is another series that needs to be finished in 2017. I need to be better at finishing series.

4. The Hybrid Chronicles by Kat Zhang

the-hybrid-chroniclesGuess what guys? I actually finished reading the end of What’s Left of Me tonight. Better late then never I always like to say! I’ll give myself some credited there. But the other two books where published in 2013 and 2014. No excuses Eevee! Hence why this trio is on this list. I really enjoyed the first book. I have been getting into Sci-Fi lately and I used to never like Science Fiction. Hopefully the ending of this one turns out well!

5. Romeo Redeemed by Stacey Jay

The last one on this list is a duology. I finished Juliet Immortal some time ago and I loved it! Who doesn’t like a good retelling of a classic story? Those seem to be pretty popular right now. So of course I was drawn to this set because of the prose being about Romeo and Juliet. There is also an anime called Romeo X Juliet and it is FANTASTIC! I adored every minute of that show. I highly suggest watching it if you love Shakespeare’s work. But alas, like all the others on this list I never got around to reading Romeo Redeemed. I think I may have read the first couple of chapters but that was it. 2017 TBR here we come!

What book series or sets have you not finished yet? Are you going to be finishing them in 2017? Let me know in the comment section! I would love to know which books everyone missed out on.
