The time is finally upon us! 2016 will give way to the new year, and we can all breath a little easier. Well, for the time being anyways, (cause in case you forget there is an orange man about to be put into office and we will call him President for the next 4 years). Lord have mercy on us all.
I just joined the book blogging game not that long ago, so my end of the year wrap up won’t be very long. I will basically go over the books I finished reading this year , rate them, and let you guys know if I recommend them. Pretty simple and easy. Just something light to entertain you guys on this fine Saturday afternoon. I am really excited to get my GoodReads book goal going tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how many books I can read in 2017. I have never done this before, so I am kind of antsy and nervous. I know I can do it considering I am a fast reader. Let’s just hope my personal life doesn’t get too carried away this time around.
Okie dokie! Let’s get started with this wrap up! I’ll start off with my favorite read of 2016 and go from there. These are in no particular order.
1. The Accident Season by Moira Fowley-Doyle
Rating: 5 out of 5
Would I recommend?-Absolutely! This was my favorite read of 2016. If you love witchy vibes and ghost stories then this is the book for you! It also contains a fantastic twist at the end.
2. The Graces by Laure Eve
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Would I recommend?-Yes! It might have been right on par with The Accident Season, but The Accident Season’s writing was a bit more descriptive and haunting. This store is also about witches and has a good twist at the end as well.
3. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
Rating: 4.8 out of 5
Would I recommend?-If you are a lover of dark fantasy then heck yes! Super duper story-line and supporting characters. They side characters almost beat out the main characters IMO. Great dark elements and plot! At little slow in the beginning but it gets crazy at the end. I love books with twists apparently!
4. Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke
Rating: 4 out of 5
Would I recommend?-Yes and no. I liked this book and the ending was where all the action ended up being, but I felt the story was so so. Not bad by any means, but I like other books more. I might feel differently when I read the sequel. I like a rich delicious plot line that drags me into the story.
5. What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang
Rating: 4.3 out of 5
Would I recommend?-If you like Sci-Fi and characters having two personalities in one body then totally! I’m not really that big into Sci-Fi novels, but I did enjoy this novel. I am looking forward to seeing what the last two books have in store.
6. Perfect & Tarnished by Kate Jarvik Birch
Rating: 4.4 out of 5
Would I recommend?-If you are looking for a guilty pleasure read then I would recommend picking up these two! I think I loved these books because of the male main character Penn. He’s is everything!
7. The Siren by Kiera Cass
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Would I recommend?-This is another guilty pleasure read. It wasn’t as good as The Selection Series, but still great in its own entirety! I love the ocean and I liked the concept of this novel. Just something light and fun to read.
8. The Crown by Kiera Cass
Rating: 4.7 out of 5
Would I recommend?-Uh…is that even a question? Of course!
9. Another Day by David Levithan
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Would I recommend?-Yes, considering this is the sequel to Every Day by David Levithan. It gives Rhiannon’s perspective and I love books where you get two different versions.
10. Me before You by Jojo Moyes
Rating: 4.7 out of 5
Would I recommend?-If you love tear jerkers and want to feel all the feels, the you bet! This story is funny, romantic, and sad all wrapped into one. I still need to read the sequel. That will be going on my 2017 TBR list!
Welp…I swear I thought I read more books than this but who really knows. I have a terrible memory. I joined the hype train pretty late this year, so 2017 will totally be a lot better. I will read more books…I promise! Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye.I hope you all enjoy your New Year’s Eve. I will see you guys next year. Cheers!
Kiera Cass is my guilty pleasure too, I just can’t seem to stop! I haven’t read the Crown yet, The Heir just wasn’t as gripping as the rest of the series

The Crown is definitely better! A lot of fans still think it needed to be fleshed out more (which I have to agree with). It would have been nice to get three books like the original Selection Series. I know a lot of fans were also disappointed that we didn’t get a book of Maxon and America ruling Illea after Maxon took the crown. That would have been neat to read as well! If you want another guilty pleasure read then I suggest Perfected and Tarnished by Kate Jarvik Birch! I will be patiently waiting for the third book on that series. Just kidding! Everyone knows I am an impatient a-hole lol 😀

Yeah I read it over the summer, you can tell it was written before the Selection, but I still enjoyed it, it kept up her status as a guilty pleasure author 😂

I’m not a big fan of romance novels, but I watched the Me Before You film and actually really enjoyed it, so I might give the book a try.
Happy New Year!

I got to read the book before the movie. The movie romanticized the story and bit more, but it was great none the less! I really enjoyed the book. So much wit and charm ❤
