Tokyo Ghoul:re and BEATLESS have been confirmed for a 2018 anime primer! HAVE MY DREAMS COME TRUE?! ARE MY EYES DECEIVING ME?! WHEN THE HELL DID I LAND IN WONDERLAND??? Like…I can’t EVEN right now. I am so happy that I could die!!!
^Literally me yesterday when I saw the announcements
The Tokyo Ghoul:re announcement was made here if you would like to check it out: https://www.animelab.com/blog/tokyo-ghoulre-anime-officially-confirmed-for-2018/ and the BEATLESS announcement was post by Honey’s Anime which can be found here: https://honeysanime.com/beatless/.
Ya’ll have no idea how hard I was freaking out yesterday when I saw the good news. It was a fangirl’s dream come true. Is anyone else as excited as I am? I know there has to be other Tokyo Ghoul and BEATLESS fans out there. I think I have to pick up the BEATLESS manga now (yes, yes I haven’t read it yet….don’t get on my case about it XD).
But the real reason for today’s post is my first impressions of fall anime season! We finally got to kick things off this week and there are some definite hits and definite misses amongst the shows I chose to watch. This is going to be a two parter because some of the other shows I have on my list haven’t started yet. I will finish the rest of this list next Friday after everything else has premiered.
Now that I have the news out of the way let’s get going with this list! (P.S. These are in no particular order. I am just listing them as I see fit) 🙂
1. Black Clover
The first show I watched was Black Clover. The first episode was interesting to say the least. Of course I already love Yuno (cause he is calm, cool, and collected) and Asta…well he is just Asta. Loud, annoying, and very determined to be the Wizard King. A lot of the comments about Asta’s voice actor were of course pretty negative (because Asta pretty much yells all of his lines), but apparently Asta calms down a bit after his first battle. So hopefully Gakuto Kajiwara (Asta’s voice actor) portrays him in a better light as we make our way through the show. It was a bit cringey in the first episode but it wasn’t terrible. Guess we have to see what happens next!
2. Juuni Taisen (Juni Taisen: Zodiac War)
I felt like Juuni Taisen (Juni Taisen: Zodiac War) started off pretty damn strong in terms of capturing the audiences attention. We get major action and gore the very first time around. I know many people were disappointed with the flashback scenes, but I am totally okay with them doing this! I like to know a character’s back story and what made them into the killers they are to this day. Nothing like a good psychotic character that likes to kill for sport! I am a sucker for anything with gore, horror, or thriller aspects. I felt like the fighting scenes were EXCELLENT and the animation is spot on. Let’s hope the rest of the series holds out.
3. Shokugeki no Soma: San no Sara (Season 3)
No need to spend a million hours discussing this show. We already know how amazing Shokugeki no Soma is! I am sure the third season will bring us even bigger and better dishes. I am looking forward to all the showdowns 😀
4. Konohana Kitan
Hello cuteness OVERLOAD! Konohana Kitan’s first episode was so freaking adorable. I loved all the loli fox girls! I can’t wait to see more of them and their shenanigans, especially Ren (probably my favorite out of the group…but you all know I have a thing for pink haired girls). I always enjoy a good slice of life/comedy anime. I feel like this one is just going to be lively and entertaining.
5. Ousama Game The Animation (King’s Game)
Ousama Game The Animation (King’s Game) is actually a sequel to the original manga. Without having read the manga I still find this anime super intriguing…but as I stated above I like anything with gore and suspense. That’s why I loved Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary) so much. I love games that involve killing others or people being punished in some horrific way. The first episode kicked us off with 10 people already dying with 22 remaining players. I guess you can say it went off with a hang…oops…I mean bang 😉 (points if you get the reference)
Here is one anime that tried super duper hard to be cute and fun and innovative but it just fell flat. Urahara had the potential to be good but there was just too much going on at one time. It was honestly kind of boring. I watched the whole thing through and was like, “Uh…did that really just happen?” I felt like it was trying to be like Akiba’s Trip The Animation but on a more girly note. Sadly this is one I will not be continuing 😦
7. Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte kara (Love is Like a Cocktail)
Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte kara (Love is Like a Cocktail) is just a kawaii little short that I already love. If you love adorable anime couples and alcohol then I recommend you watch this guy! I mean the episode’s are only 3 minutes long! Can’t go wrong in that department.
8. Dies Irae
Excuse me…what did I just watch? Episode 000 of Dies Irae premiered today and I have no idea what is going on. I know this is like a summary episode of what is to come but god damn! It was all over the place. I am going to wait to see if the actual first episode explains a bit more before making any final decisions. I really liked the opening of this anime (the actual opening and not the song op) but then it kinda teetered off. Guess we will see if it gets any better when the next episode it released.
9. Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou (Girls’ Last Tour)
We have Made in Abyss meets post-apocalyptic world with a hint of darkness in Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou (Girls’ Last Tour). My body is ready! The dynamic between Chi and Yuu is EVERYTHING. I can’t wait to know what lies hidden in the darkness of Chito’s mind. The tone, music, and aesthetics of this anime are PERFECT. I have high hopes/expectations for this anime.
10. Net-juu no Susume (Recovery of an MMO Junkie)
I just wanna take a moment to appreciate how charming Lily’s character design is! So far she is my favorite part of the show. Net-juu no Susume (Recovery of an MMO Junkie) has my attention ten fold. I am so down with any anime that deals with RPG games! This first episode was great. I can’t wait to see what the rest has in store for us (because there is nothing like a comedy anime that deals with NEET’s).
11. Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World – The Animated Series
While this series takes place after Kino no Tabi (more like a sequel) I have to say this is the show I am most curious about. I totally loved loved loved the first episode! Especially the opening lines. Let me quote them for you:
“Sometimes I wonder…Am I a hopeless, foolish, petty person? Am I a really underhanded person? I’m not sure why, but sometimes I feel that way. Sometimes I can’t see it any other way. But it’s during those times that I always find other things, like the world or the way other people live, to be wholly beautiful and wonderful. They become very dear to me. I want to learn more and more about them, and I think that’s probably why I travel. I know that so long as I travel, there will be plenty of hardship and sadness lying on the road ahead. But that doesn’t make me think I should stop traveling. Traveling is fun, and even if I have to kill others, I still want to continue doing it.”
Sold me right there my friends! Done and done. That is a wrap! I know this anime will be amazing and special and all around philosophical. Give me more already! 😛
Which shows are you currently watching? Do you have any first impressions? I would like to know if anyone else is watching the same shows as I am! Come chat with me in the comments section. Also I watched the third OVA of The Ancient Magus Bride and MY FEELS! It was oh so good! I can’t wait for the show to premier now!!! Just give it to me already. Oh…It starts in like 17 hours. We got this peeps! ❤
