Senpai Saturday-First Impressions Of Fall Season (Part 2)…Because I Can’t Seem To Write Anything On Time These Days. Merp.

Before you get on my case…I had a very busy day yesterday. I had a tattoo appointment for Friday the 13th and it was also laundry day. Considering I don’t have a washer & dryer at home I usually end up going to my friends house in order to get my garments all clean. That’s what happens when you live in a college town! A lot of places around here don’t have washer/dryer hookups in the buildings so you have to do laundry at a laundry mat. We have a washer/dryer room in our complex but I ain’t about to pay $10 to do a load of laundry when I can do it for free elsewhere XD Eff that noise!

I’ve also been having a hard time sleeping the last couple of days so I took a much deserved nap. If I could sleep all day I probably would. Hibernation sounds like a good idea…don’t ya think? Whose’s with me on this one?

Things to do

So here I am bringing you guys part 2 of my Fall anime season first impressions! Better late than never…am I right? It’s only a day late…jeez you guys expect too much from me. I’m only one person you know! *Silently sobs in the corner* I am still waiting for the second season of 3-gatsu no Lion (March comes in like a Lion), but we still have a few hours to go. I usually like to focus on brand new new shows though (I feel like second and third seasons really don’t count when they come out). Sometimes second and third season shows take away from the potential popularity of new anime, so for me personally I count them in their own category.

Let’s get to the rest of these shows! 😀

1. Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau (Children of the Whales)

This is my top pick for Fall anime season. Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau (Children of the Whales) is undeniably STUNNING. A lot of people were complaining the first episode was too slow, but for me personally, I thought it was perfection. For an anime that borderlines on emotional and tugs at the heartstrings of the viewer I don’t expect it to be fast paced. I want it to draw me in little by little. I don’t need an action packed story shoved in my face 24/7. It is the same ideals and principles with Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu or Natsuyuki Rendezvous (two of my all time favorite anime). They take their time to really draw out the full potential of the anime. I’ve really come to appreciate slow-burner anime over the last year and I am glad I have given them more of an opportunity to make a lasting impression on me. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s episode! Apparently it supposed to make the viewer cry. Guess we will have to wait and see!

2. Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous)

Houseki

My other favorite has finally made its appearance! Well really it appeared last week after I wrote part one, so it couldn’t be added until today lololz but I am so very glad it did! I actually read the first volume of Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) and the first episode was translated almost perfectly! There were a few minor changes but they can be overlooked in order to really appreciate the premier episode. I can’t wait to see more of Cinnabar! Probably my favorite out of the whole group. I love the unique fantasy concept of this story and how they bring gems to life. The only thing it is really lacking is music. I wish we could get some good tunes to go along with this series. Maybe it will pick up in later episodes? I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

3. Inuyashiki

Inuyashiki

I have to hand it to MAPPA studios for giving us a protagonist who is an old man. Well, 58 to be exact (some people wouldn’t consider this very old). Inuyashiki was unbelievably fucking sad the first 10-12 mins of the show and then BOOM! We got a sci-fi alien twist in the middle. I love anything dealing with aliens right now, so this show is right up my alley. The CGI isn’t as smooth as Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) but I am hoping it might pan out in the later episodes. I really wish shows would layer the CGI like they did with God Eater. That show was a bit easier on the eyes and transitioned quite well. I have high hopes for Inuyashiki! Let’s hope it can deliver!

4. Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus Bride)

I feel like I don’t really need to touch basis on this one (because it seems everyone else has already). You guys know I loved the three part OVA’s of Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus Bride). I am thoroughly impressed by the first episode! I can’t wait to see the rest of Elias and Chise’s journey together. I am sure we are in for a magical treat ❤

5. Kekkai Sensen & Beyond

Kekkai Sensen Gang

Another show I don’t need to reiterate on. I am so stoked to see Kekkai Sensen back for another season. This show is so kooky, off-the-wall, and I love every minute of it! Let’s all enjoy this crazy ride together! 🙂

6. Blend S

Blend S

Just like Konohana Kitan, I thought Blend S was totes adorable! Really impressed with all the cuteness overload. You really can’t go wrong with moe anime. I think Maika trying to be a sadist is freaking hilarious! It would be interesting to go to a cafe and experience all the different types of “-dere’s.” I think we are in for some good laughs with this anime.

7. Two Car

A lot of mixed reviews out there of Two Car. I quite liked the first episode. I think a lot of people were disappointed with the flashbacks, because it seemed a bit jumbled (almost like they were just thrown in there). Which I can totally see, but I am not one to complain about flashbacks. I thought the pacing was good and I liked the dynamic between Yuri and Megumi. Best friends tend to bicker like they did in the first episode. We all can’t be perfect ya know? I am willing to stick with it mainly because all the girls competing are so freaking pretty! I wanna be that pretty.

9. Evil or Live

Evil or live

This anime is done by the same people who did Bloodivores (and we all know how that anime turned out). Evil or Live is another Chinese manga turned anime. I think it is great they are trying to produce more anime from Chinese source material but it never comes out quite right. The story is interesting to say the least and the genre is horror, but I feel like this anime will just turn shitty like Bloodivores did. I’ll give them points for trying! I’ll stick it out for a few more episodes and if it doesn’t keep my interest I’ll drop it.

10. Boku no Kanojo ga Majime Sugiru Shojo Bitch na Ken

Bitchchan

Let me just say this…I wasn’t planning on watching Boku no Kanojo ga Majime Sugiru Shojo Bitch na Ken at all, but decided to see what the first episode would be like. I think I watched about 15 to 18 mins worth and then got bored. Boring story, boring characters, the same shit just a different day. Totally not worth my time!

That is finally it for Fall first impressions! Which shows are you most excited about? Have you dropped any shows so far? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below! And as always thank you for joining me today! I always appreciate you guys stopping by to read my post.
