So I originally wasn’t going to post today but then I came across the BEAUTIFUL and MAGNIFICENT anime film trailer last night. Like how the hell did I miss this?! Granted the trailer only came out 5 days ago….BUT STILL! I’m surprised I didn’t find out more information on it earlier. I usually do pretty well in my upcoming anime detective skills…sigh seems I failed this time around.

The anime film I am talking about is Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana wo Kazarou (When the Promised Flower Blooms). A hauntingly tranquil anime film directed by anime scenario writer Mari Okada, who would on stories such Anohana: The Flower We Saw That DayThe Anthem of the Heart, and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. This will be Okada’s debut work! Here is the synopsis of the film:

“The people of Iolph have lived quietly weaving daily events into cloth called Hibioru in a remote land. Their appearances stop growing in their middle teen and they have a lifetime of hundreds of years. They are called “A Family of Farewell” and have been regarded as a living legend. Maquia, an Iolph girl who has lost their parents, has spent her calm days surrounded by her friends, but has felt “loneliness” somewhere in her heart. However, their peaceful life falls apart in a flash. The Mesarte Army riding on the ancient beast called Lenato invades their town to look for Iolph’s blood that offers a long life. In the despair and chaos, Iolph’s most beatiful woman Leiria is taken by Mesarte, and Klim, the boy whom Maquia has secretly fallen in love with, also goes missing. Maquia is somehow able to escape, but loses her friends and a place to return. With an empty mind, Makia wanders in the dark forest. Then she finds a “lonely baby” who just lost his parents. The baby is named Aliel, and grows up as a boy. Meanwhile, Maquia still looks as a girl, no matter how long time passes.”

Here are a few visuals released with the movie’s information:

Lastly here is the film trailer (be sure to watch in HD):

I think I have watched this trailer more than a dozen times now and each time towards the end my eyes start to prick and I feel a sense of sadness. This movie is going to rip my feels to shreds and I don’t know if I’m going to be able to handle it. The visuals, the music, the art style are all too beautiful…that is P.A. Works for you though. It sucks that we won’t get this film for quite some time since it is releasing in Japan in February. I would pre-order this on DVD without even have seen the film based on this trailer alone. Ya’ll might think I’m crazy, but even if the movie sucked I would still appreciate this film just for the art style and music. Stunning. Simply stunning. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is 2018 anime film of the year just like how Kimi no Na wa was 2016’s film of the year. I need this film like NOW.
