Featured Creator Friday: Idol Chitchat With The Lively And Logical Lethargic Ramblings

ANNNDDD WE ARE BACK! Yes, I am here to bring you guys another rousing round of Feature Creator Friday. This week we have the very special Lethargic Ramblings! I have also been collabing with Leth on our weekly WIXOSS post (even though it seems to be later than a week due to Leth having more of a social life than Jon and I combined XD). In a way I am kinda jealous…Leth shared the wonderful news that he is getting married in a few short weeks and I am SOOOO happy for him! Congrats to your fiance and you Leth. I wish you guys all the happiness in the world ❤

If you guys missed my previous collabs with Jon Spencer Reviews and itsaanimething I will link them both right now. Interview collab with itsaanimething: https://kawaiipaperpandas.wordpress.com/2018/05/04/interview-collab-with-itsaanimething-but-i-think-this-post-is-gonna-take-more-than-a-minute-to-read-xd/. Interview collab with Jon Spencer Reviews: https://kawaiipaperpandas.wordpress.com/2018/05/11/featured-creator-friday-getting-candid-with-jon-spencer-reviews-for-the-views-ayyyeee/. I have one more Feature Creator Friday coming out for the month of May. That of course will be up next week on the 25th. Make sure you come back then to see my next victim…I mean interviewee! Tehehe 😉

Alrighty then…let’s get on to the interview questions I asked Leth.

1. Where did you come up with the blogging name Lethargic Ramblings?

Leth: Quite a lot of people already know this, but I’ve been writing about anime for a good number of years. Much longer than I’ve had this blog actually. I used to be a pretty prolific and well known reviewer on MyAnimeList and Anime-Planet where I’d post a lot of reviews for shows I’d been watching at the time. But I wasn’t the nicest person back then and was a big, bad, mean, elitist who’d unfortunately built up a reputation for being a pretty terrible person.

About a year later, after getting banned from MAL on my old account and quitting reviews entirely due to a lack of interest, I suddenly wanted to write about anime again one weekend because I was bored. So…I decided to make a blog for the heck of it, having no idea there was any kind of community out there. I wanted to erase any connection to my old persona however, since it no longer reflected anything about me as a person, so I decided on Lethargic Ramblings.

That’s the origin story. As to why I picked that name specifically, it’s a little less interesting! Since high school I’ve had a really bad, self diagnosed, case of chronic fatigue syndrome which basically means I feel insanely tired all the time no matter how much sleep I get the night before. It doesn’t negatively impact my life or anything, and I haven’t actually been diagnosed with anything (I’m probably just lazy)…but it causes me to fall asleep during some really hilarious situations such as during conversation or when actively playing video games. My writing style is also very rambly. Put these together and you have “Lethargic Ramblings”!

That was way too long an answer… Sorry!

2. If you could have two anime characters switch lives for a day who would you choose and why?

Leth:  I’d really enjoy seeing Gon and Killua from Hunter x Hunter switch bodies. Given how different their personalities are, despite being best friends, I can imagine that being pretty hilarious. Watching Gon play around with Killua’s assassin techniques is like the funniest thing ever to me.

3. Can you tell us a little bit about your fiancé? Is she an otaku like you or does she have different interest?

Leth: Well, we’ve been together for almost 9 years now. We met when I was 15, and have been madly in love ever since. I basically grew up with her and we’re due to be married in just over 5 weeks so… It’s exciting! Love her to bits!

As for whether or not she’s an otaku… Kinda! When we first met she was super into anime, and was actually the reason I branched out to shows beyond the likes of Dragon Ball Z and Naruto. She introduced me to Death Note and from there on wards, I slowly began to become the huge anime fan I am today. She also got me into watching subs back in 2013.

Nowadays she’s not as big of an anime watcher as she used to be, mostly because she’s always working very hard and tends to prefer watching Western TV shows or Reality TV during her down time. But she’s still into anime, and we’ll watch stuff together quite a bit. We’re currently watching Boruto together every week and we also started Assassination Classroom. We even watched my favorite anime, Hunter x Hunter together once which was the best thing ever!

Some of her favourites are: Attack on Titan, Naruto, Hidan no Aria, Yu-Gi-Oh, Parasyte, Ah My Goddess and Magi.

4. What does anime mean to you?

Leth: Anime means a heck of a lot to me and is one of the most important things in my life. That sounds a little much for what is essentially just a form of entertainment, but I owe the medium a lot.

It got me through some really rough times and served as a great form of escapism when I was a teenager. Nowadays it serves the purpose of helping me wind down after a stressful day of work! So yeah! It’s super important to me, and keeps constantly surprising me with great stuff!

5. If you could design an anime or manga character what would you want them to look like?

Leth: I’d design them to look me so I can finally have a custom avatar of myself instead of stealing Tanaka all the time.

Maybe I should commission that…

6. What is one future goal you want Lethargic Ramblings to reach in the near future?

Leth: I have a lot of future plans for the blog, but the biggest one is branching out into some kind of video content on YouTube. Mostly because it’d allow me to reach a bigger audience and create content that just isn’t possible with writing. Sadly I lack confidence in my verbal skills so I’ve kind of held off from doing this. One day maybe!

There’s one huge project in particular that I’ve always wanted to do, but I feel it’d only work as a video. It’s also far too ambitious and will probably never happen though. There are some other things I’d like to do too relating to a big change that’s happening in August, but I can’t go into what that is just now for…various reasons! You’ll all find out in July!

7. Which anime character(s) represent you as a person?

Leth: Tanaka-kun of course! He’s not only the face of this blog (for now), but he’s also laziness personified! Very relatable!

8. Which anime series do you wish had a second season (one that isn’t scheduled for one)?

Leth: Sooooo many! But if I had to pick just one, I’d go for Tsubasa Chronicle. It DID get a second season, but a large amount of it was filler and it ended in the middle of the story. They tried to save it with some (amazing) OVA’s later on, but they skipped a lot of story content and it still ended incomplete.

A continuation wrapping things up would be the best thing ever for me. I’d also be open to a reboot too!

9. If you could be an anime monster boy what kind would you be?

Leth: Whichever one sleeps the most.

10. What anime/manga character do you want to cosplay as?

Leth: Killua from Hunter x Hunter. He’s probably my favorite character in anything ever, and seems pretty easy to do. Maybe at the next con I go to!

Bonus question: Would you rather be a good guy or bad guy in the Pokemon franchise?

Leth: A bad guy, provided I can ditch the lame Team Rocket outfit and actually get to win sometimes.

Another Featured Creator Friday for the books! Sometimes coming up with interview questions is hard, but I think all of the one’s I have come up with thus far have been particularly fun. I would make the interviews super long but then I feel like that kinda takes away from the creators context. I think 10 questions is sufficient enough! I hope everyone enjoyed this weeks interview. Stay tuned for more anime content coming up this week. Sending out much love to you my pandas ❤

  1. Thanks for sharing.
I’m with Leth in that either a conclusion to Tsubasa Chronicles or a reboot would be amazingly appreciated. I loved that story and the lack of ending kind of hurts.
