TTT: Top Ten Tuesday-Twinning is Winning.

You know who doesn’t get enough attention in anime? TWINS! Twins (in case you didn’t know) are two offspring produced by the same pregnancy. Twins can be either identical or fraternal. Types of twin pairings include female/female, male/male, or male/female. I feel like we definitely see more female/female pairs in anime, but we do get the occasional male/male and male/female combination.

Here are some fun facts about twins you may not have known (per a Huffington Post article I found scouting the interweb)!

  1. Identical twins do not have identical fingerprints.
  2. Massachusetts has the most twin births of any state in America.
  3. Mirror image identical twins have reverse asymmetric features.
  4. Identical twins do not always have the same genetics.
  5. Mothers of twins may live longer.
  6. Twins interact with each other in the womb.
  7. Some conjoined twins can feel and taste what the other one does.

Twin anime characters are often my favorite characters in specific anime series. I feel like they play off each other quite well. Most often than not they are portrayed as having a strong emotional bond and would do ANYTHING for one another. As Abbie over on Honey’s Anime states, “A crucial facet of a compelling anime series is the characters and their interpersonal relationships, and the connections between siblings are often complicated – with twins, even more so. Some twins are very similar to one another in behavior while some barely even act related at all. Some are allies, still others are rivals. Though genetically identical to each other, no two pairs of twins are quite the same.” In my personal opinion twinning is winning. Soooo if you couldn’t tell from today’s title it is Top Ten Tuesday twin day! Let’s take a look at some of my favorite twins in anime 😀

      1. The Blood C film? Or the one before that? If it’s the latter, I have seen that one. If it’s Blood C, I still have to watch that (I bought it a few months ago at Animecon 😊😊).

  1. Tsukasa and Kagami from Lucky Star. Because the are fraternal and not identical, they can have different personalities and complement each others strengths and weaknesses well. Also, there were the twin villains Hansel and Gretel from Black Lagoon, deadly, amoral, and ultimately doomed. Poor kids.
