I have been tagged to do this post a few times now…soooo senpai is here to deliver! Some of you may know this (and some of you may not) but I write in my free time. Well….lets just say I haven’t written in awhile. If you follow my personal Instagram account then you would know that I mainly write poetry. I dabbled in young adult fiction but couldn’t find the means to complete a full blown novel. I mean…I have…but we won’t go into detail about that right now. More recently, I was fortunate to come across a person who is publishing a collection of my poems in a book that will be out this September! This book will contain a number of poems from people all across the state of Oregon. The book is currently in its final production stages and you can say I am MORE than excited to see my work on actual paper in a printed book. EEP!
So, yes, writing is another hobby of mine. I also really really love books. Books are my other one true love ❤ A girl can never have enough books! I was doing book blogging before I decided to switch over to anime blogging. I have stated this once or twice in previous post of mine…but I wanted to state this again for my new followers who have just joined me on this crazy otaku adventure 😀
Today’s post is the Create-A-Story tag! The rules are as follows:
THE RULES:
- You pick your first word, your setting, and your story genre from the list below. As individuals, your brand of creativity is unique to yours, so we want to highlight that by letting you choose from a bunch of words and creating something beautiful out of it.
- The short story will have a limit of 1000 words. You do not need to write a story with 1000 words exactly. It could be 300, or 500 as long as it doesn’t surpass a thousand.
- YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO ANSWER THE TAG.
- You must tag three people to participate (I am gonna challenge itsaanimething, Biblio Nyan, and Cactus Matt for this one…sorry if you have been tagged already).
- Don’t forget to link back to Keiko (use her latest post for now) so she can collect all the stories. You can’t just link back to her WordPress, since she won’t be alerted of the pingback. You need to link back to a post or a page, because WordPress works like this.
- Use the Create-A-Story picture in the post.
- Copy and paste the rules in your tag post as well, so others can be clued in to the Create-A-Story rules.
Buuuut just as my title says senpai is going to cheat a little bit here. I have an excerpt from a book I was working on years ago. It is something I never finished but I thought I would share it with you guys anyways! I felt like it fits within the realm of this tag. I hope you guys don’t mind me bending the rules a bit here 😛
I want to thank Sakuras Galleria, A Nerdy Perspective and Karandi for tagging me! It’s always fun getting to do post like these. If you missed my last tag post you can actually check that out here: https://kawaiipaperpandas.wordpress.com/2018/08/03/brotherhood-of-the-world-bloggers-award-maybe-i-should-come-up-with-an-awards-post-of-my-own/.
Without further delay lets get into it!
“What do you write about?” I ask him curiously.
“I write about snow colored girls, ghost, and death.” He replies, his eyes never leaving his journal.
“Why death?” I say trying to see his words more closely.
“Because death is a beautiful thing. It’s peaceful. What else in this world is peaceful? Nothing. Life is too busy, too complicated, too demanding. It never slows down and it never lets up. At least death is simple. Simple and peaceful. And I like peaceful.”
“You’re a strange boy.” I say.
“And you’re a strange girl.” He says finally looking at me. His pen has stopped, and so have the delicate letters that flow from it. He then closes his leather journal and buckles it shut. Just like that all of his shapely calligraphy is gone from my sight. I feel a tinge of sadness at this. I can’t help but love his elegant handwriting. It’s almost bewitching to look at. “Let’s go befriend the moon.” He says with a haunting look in his eyes. Those eyes; so dark that they are almost black. I am entranced by them. I wonder what kind of stories they hold, secrets they’ve seen, and enemies they have made. They say that your eyes are the window to your soul. I believe that to be true. If I stare into them any longer I will be forever lost in total darkness, never to return again.
“How are we supposed to befriend the moon? It’s daylight out.” I say, finally breaking from his unfathomable eyes. I place my gaze upon my folded hands in my lap instead.
“The moon is there no matter what time of day it is. If you look hard enough you will find it. I can promise you that much.” He pushes off the ground to stand up. With his journal in his left hand, he offers me his right. “Come! Let us go and ramble nonsense to it. I’m sure it would be happy to have some company. It must be lonely watching over everyone else without having a companion by your side.” I take a hold of his hand. His grip is firm but not overpowering. As he lifts me up I respond,
“But doesn’t the moon have all the stars in the sky to keep it feasted? I am sure they have legions of things to talk about.” I brush the back of my cotton summer dress off. I don’t want any dirt sticking to it since it is fairly new.
“Yes, but the stars are envious of the moon. It is bigger and brighter than anything else hanging in the sky. The stars whisper among themselves, creating jealousy and rage. This leads them to shun the moon. That, my friend is when the moon is left isolated and alone.” I wonder how he knows all of this. I see him starting to walk to the furthest side of the meadow. He just becomes more and more compelling the deeper I get to know him.
I quicken my pace to catch up to him. “How do you know all of this?” I say, his words still fumbling around in my mind. He continues to walk across the meadow and doesn’t say anything for a few minutes. Then he says still looking straight ahead,
“That is for me to know and you to find out.” He turns his face in my direction, I can see the smirk his face possess. He also has a slight gleam in his eyes. He must know things that I do not. I don’t know how he does it, but he keeps his secrets locked away tight. I wish I could say the same for myself. I am reckless, and unnerving. I blurt out whatever thoughts come to my mind. I wish I could be more like Artemis, impenetrable like a steel cage with a thousand locks. “I am going to lose you if you keep spacing off like that.” My thoughts are pulled back to Artemis’s voice. He is now a few feet ahead of me. My mind has taken me somewhere else so now I am lagging behind him.
“Sorry!” I say, feeling embarrassed. He has stopped by an overgrown blackberry bush, it is the one that produces the best and sweetest berries of the season. I am finally by his side once again.
“Now that I have your attention,” he says as we continue our journey forward. “It’s just after this dip here.” I push a small hanging branch out of my way. The wind comes softly, rustling the leaves around us. It is my absolute favorite sound in the whole world. It’s like the forest is playing a delicate song and I am the only one who can hear it. “Do you hear that?” Artemis says stopping with a hand over his right ear.
“Hear what?” I say also stopping in my tracks. I put both hands over my ears to see if I can hear what he is talking about.
“The music.” He says with his eyes closed. He lifts his face up towards the trees. They cast different shaped silhouettes across his face. The sun’s rays penetrate through the crisscrossed branches and reach out for his light colored skin. I now understand what he means. He hears the very same sound that I do.
“You hear it too don’t you?” I ask, gazing upon his closed eyes. “You hear the music of the trees, the flowers, and the forest. Everything that goes on in this thicket has a song to sing. Sometimes it is heavyhearted full of despair, while other times it is delighted and content. I feel like it understands me a lot of the time. That is why I like it here so much. It is like the forest is a part of me.” I watch as Artemis opens his eyes and looks at me. His eyes now look as if they have questions to ask. I finally feel like I am in control now instead of the other way around.
“Yes I hear the music all the time. It’s etched into my mind and echo’s in my heart. I can’t get enough of it, of this planet. It is so wonderful, and complex, and brilliant yet refined. It never ceases to amazing me.” The branches of the trees sway all around us. The forest continues to sing to us as we stare at one another. My cheeks are starting to flush, I can feel the heat rising in me. Artemis’s dark hair falls across his eyes, it dances slightly in the wind. My palms are starting to become clammy. They do so every time I get nervous. He is only a few inches away from me. Our eyes never falter and it seems like an eternity has passed. Like time has stopped and we are the only two people left in the world. My heart is throbbing, it’s pressed up against my chest. It’s screaming out for him to kiss me, to put his graceful lips against mine.
I then whisper, “I feel like I know you. Not from right now but from some other time. I can feel it in my veins, my blood, my bones, and my heart.” I lift my right hand and place it over my heart. Artemis’s eyes draw down to where my hand is placed. I watch the rise and fall of his chest. Did his breathing get quicker? Does he feel the same way that I do? He then takes his left hand and places it on top of mine. My skin is on fire, I am starting to feel lightheaded. He gently removes my hand and places it over his heart.
“You do know me from a time long ago. But you must have forgotten now that you are in human form.” He looks down at our overlapping hands. I am now more confused than I have ever been.
“What does that mean? Human form?” I say, edging my body even closer to his. We are now almost touching. My body is humming with excitement, adrenaline, and desire. His hand drops from mine.
“That is for me to know and you to find out.” He says with a half grin. He then places his forehead against mine, the tips of our noses slightly touch.
“This is so not fair.” I say with a little bit of agitation in my voice.
“What’s not fair?” He counters back, placing his right hand on the back of my neck.
“You keeping all these secrets from me. I want to know what you know. I think it’s only fair.” I’m getting super impatient at this point. He keeps avoiding the subject. I just want to know more about where I come from. Is that too much to ask for?
“Secrets are what makes things interesting. Secrets are the Devil’s ammunition against others. Secrets hold stories, truths, lies, beginnings, and endings. They always vex and never falter when confronted. Secrets are man’s best friend.”
He is right once again. His words hold nothing but precision. They are like a blunt object hitting you in the back of the head. They make you realize that life is an illusion, blinding you until you can finally see past the mist that hangs heavy in your sight.
“But…” Artemis cuts me off, he covers my mouth with his. I close my eyes, feeling the sun beckoning against my back. My right hand wanders to the back of his neck. His soft lips apply a bit more pressure. My body is bursting with trepidation. My fingers weave into his hair, as do his. All these sensations are running rampant that I almost can’t keep up. My body starts to wavier a bit. Artemis pulls back, but presses me against his chest.
“Are you alright?” He says with a concerned look on his face.
“Yes…sorry, I just wasn’t expecting that.” I reply trying to catch my breath. I feel his chest vibrate as he lets out a low chuckle. I start to laugh a bit as well.
“Yup, you’re one strange girl alright.” He says looking down at me.
He was absolutely, utterly beautiful. Not just in his appearance but his spirit, his soul, his being. He was the little piece of hope that I had left in this unforgiving world and I cherished that. I would keep him close, keep him locked away tight from all the hideous things this world had to offer. He was too precious of a being for me to let get tarnished
And there you have it my pandas! I hope you enjoyed reading some of my past work. I hope that one day I can go back and finish this story. It has a special place in my heart! The title for the book was actually based off a word used in the anime Glasslip. I find inspiration all over the place. Anime is a huge factor in a lot of the things I write, even my poetry! If you want to follow me on my personal IG my handle is tattooedkittykat. I would love to see some familiar faces 😀 That is it for me this Thursday! I hope everyone has a good day, afternoon, or evening wherever you are in the world. I’ll see you guys very soon! XOXO
