TTT: Top Ten Tuesday-An Arbitrary List of Anime Series I Haven’t Finished Watching Because I’m a Weeb

The dreaded watch and drop.

I am sure many of you guys have experienced this in your otaku lifetime. You start an anime series in hopes of joining in on the hype train or the fact that something generally caught your interest. You watch the first episode, maybe a few more, and then all of the sudden it’s the year 2085 and you still haven’t finished that one series you started many moons ago. Yup….that’s essentially what it means to be an anime watcher.

It isn’t often that I do this “watch and drop.” Most of the time when I start an anime series I stay pretty committed to watching it all of the way through, but sometimes life happens and you forget all about it. I can’t spend every waking hour watching anime (even though I wish I COULD do that). But like most “normal functioning” adults you either have to work to pay your bills, go to school, or take care of some other life event. The reality of it all is that anime sometimes has to be put on the back burner for the time being.

So (if you couldn’t already tell from the title of this blog), today is going to be all about the anime series I have started but never got around to finishing. Those poor unfortunate souls. All they want is my time, attention, and love…maybe someday I’ll get around to finishing these series, but for now they just have to wait their turn XD

Lets do this!

1. Trinity Blood

^I LOVE vampire series…so I don’t know how I didn’t finish Trinity Blood. Watched the first episode and that was all she wrote.

2. Trigun

^Oh look! Another series where I watched the first episode and never came back to.

3. Soul Eater

^Surprisingly enough I watched more than one episode of Soul Eater, but never ventured more than a few episodes in.

4. The Asterisk War

^I watched the first half of The Asterisk War but called it quits after that. I think maybe I got bored? Who knows.

5. Shirobako

^I know I know…how dare I not finish this one. I’m also mad at myself I haven’t finished Shirobako yet!

6. Tsuritama

^I thought I was going to be super interested in this series from the looks of the trailer and anime synopsis, buuuut the first few episodes just didn’t do it for me.

7. Oreimo

^I started Oreimo to see what the fuss was all about (since it talked about in the anime community quite often) but only got part way through. I’m sensing a trend here lololz

8. Maoyuu Maou Yuusha

^I remember liking the first few episodes of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. Maybe I should finish this one for sure.

9. Strawberry Panic

^ONCE AGAIN another anime where I watched the first episode and it was never to be seen or heard from again.

10. Amagi Brilliant Park

^Ah…so many unfinished anime series, so little time to finish them.

Holy hell do I feel like a slacker now! Not finishing these series makes me feel more and more unaccomplished. My mother didn’t raise me this way! What have I’ve been doing with my life?! Oh yeah! That’s right. Working full time and going to school to get my college degree. I see…it’s all coming together now. All jokes aside it was nice to revisit which anime series I haven’t finished and it’s making me more inclined to finish at least some of these. Which anime series have you watched and dropped? Are some of the series something you might get back to or are you less likely to watch them in the future because of seasonal anime? Let me know all of your thoughts, comments, and opinions down below in the comments section! Annnddd as always thank you for joining me this week my pandas ❤ See you guys in the next post!

  1. It might sound like a line but both Trigun and Soul Eater are shows that you kind of have to keep watching to get into them. Trigun becomes something quite special along the way (though the change is gradual until suddenly you realise you are in a show that doesn’t feel anything like what you started with). Soul Eater’s first three episodes, while they do set up the characters and the world, have more or less nothing to do with anything else and the story doesn’t kick off until after these.
That said, I drop or put a lot of shows on hold because of personal tastes or time constraints and the list of shows to get back to just keeps getting bigger.

    1. I almost did this with Cowboy Bebop, but I ended up sticking with it until the very end. I now have a special place in my heart for it. I know Trigun is the same way. I just have to get past the first couple of episodes to really enjoy it.

  2. You definitely need to finish Soul Eater at some point for sure.

It starts off rather basic, but it gets REALLY good later on, especially once the Kishin Revival Arc kicks off.

The Manga is even better too!

The Asterisk War is another series I recommend finishing. My wife and I recently finished it, and it was absolutely worth the watch. Again, it starts off fairly generic, but really picks up in the second half.

I have a lot of series that I’ve yet to finish, and my On Hold list is really large right now, mostly because I sample the first episode of every show each season and then put them all On Hold until they finish airing. …Most of the time I never get back to them.

Notable things on my list include: Baccano, Welcome to the Ballroom, Bakuman, Durarara, No Game No Life and even Sword Art Online II!

    1. Like I said in my post I’m not one who usually puts shows on hold (because God knows I’ve finished some pretty terrible anime series). It seems to be more of a reoccurring thing for me this year though. I think I’m most inclined to finish Shirobako and Strawberry Panic off this list. But as you stated sometimes things just get put off longer than we would like XD I think you’ll definitely love Welcome to the Ballroom! It’s an incredibly well done sports anime series. I loved it ❤
