What’s Coming Up Wednesday: Hello Spring! Hello New Anime!

What is up my pandas?! Welcome to another What’s Coming Up Wednesday with yours truly. That’s right! We are already wrapping up another season of anime and making out way into spring season. It seems like it was just yesterday that we started winter watch season…but alas! We are wrapping up winter season and springing into spring! You see what I did there 😉

Today is all about the new anime titles that will be gracing our screens in a few short weeks. I will only be covering new shows and not continuing series. The secondary shows I will be watching include the second seasons of Re:Zero (Note: The second season of Re:Zero has been delayed until July 2020. I will move this to summer watch season), Love is War, Fruits Basket (2019 edition), Ascendance of a Bookworm, No Guns Life, Drop-kick on My Devil, part 2 of Sword Art Online: Alicization, and the fifth season of Food Wars.  I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again…you all know how these post go. I will post the anime title, anime trailer (if I can find one), and the summary of that anime. Pretty easy peasy lemon squeezy! These are mainly written for me to keep track of the series I’m interested in watching and for you guys to get an idea of what is floating around for next watch season. Let’s cut to the chase and check out some anime!

1. BNA

Anime Synopsis: “In the 21st century, the existence of animal-humans came to light after being hidden in the darkness of history. Michiru lived life as a normal human, until one day she suddenly turns into a tanuki-human. She runs away and takes refuge in a special city area called “Anima City” that was set up 10 years ago for animal-humans to be able to live as themselves. There Michiru meets Shirou, a wolf-human who hates humans. Through Shirou, Michiru starts to learn about the worries, lifestyle, and joys of the animal-humans. As Michiru and Shirou try to learn why Michiru suddenly turned into an animal-human, they unexpectedly get wrapped up in a large incident.”

2. Tower of God

Anime Synopsis: “Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a vast and mysterious Tower, with only his close friend, Rachel, to keep him company. When Rachel enters the Tower, Bam manages to open the door into it as well, and faces challenges at each floor of this tower as he tries to find his closest companion.”

3. Gleipnir

Anime Synopsis: “Shuuichi Kagaya isn’t human. He has an unnatural sense of smell, and can transform into an incredibly powerful beast… of sorts. He does all he can to avoid standing out and being discovered, but no good deed goes unpunished, and his decision to use his power to save a girl spells the end for his quiet life.”

4. Sing Yesterday for Me

Anime Synopsis: “The coming-of-age story follows a university graduate named Rikuo who has not been able to find permanent employment after college, a mysterious woman named Haru who has a pet crow, and Rikuo’s former university classmate Shinako.”

5. Kakushigoto

Anime Synopsis: “This story is about Gotou Kakushi, an artist who draws a somewhat vulgar manga, and tries to hide it for the sake of his daughter, Hime. A father-daughter tale of love and laughter.”

6. Appare Ranman!

Anime Synopsis: “After a certain mishap, the brilliant but socially inept engineer Apare Sorano and the shrewd but cowardly samurai Kosame Isshiki find themselves drifting on a boat from Japan to America. Broke, the two decide to compete in the Trans-America Wild Race to win the prize and return to Japan. The two battle crazy rivals, outlaws, and the great outdoors itself as they race through the wild West from the starting line in Los Angeles to the finish line in New York – in the steam-powered car they built.”

7. Fogou Keiji Balance: Unlimited

Anime Synopsis: “Based on Yasutaka Tsutsui’s novel, Fugou Keiji. The story centers around millionaire Daisuke Kambe, the heir to one of the wealthiest families in Japan, who is assigned as a detective to the Modern Crime Prevention Task Force (aka MCPTF), at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Taking full advantage of his vast family wealth, he spares no expense in solving complex crimes, and has the tendency to evaluate everything including individual human lives in terms of their monetary value. Haru Katou, a detective with a compassionate heart who believes that money isn’t everything, is chosen as Kambe’s partner but is repulsed by his materialistic attitude. Having diametrically opposing personalities, witness how the two join forces to tackle seemingly unsolvable crimes and mysteries!”

8. Diary of our Days at the Breakwater

Anime Synopsis: “Hina is an indoor-oriented girl who likes crafts and moves to a seaside town to continue with her high school education. She gradually starts to appreciate the appeal of the ocean.”

9. Listeners

Anime Synopsis: “The “great adolescent symphony” is set in a world where nothing called “music” exists. Humans are scared of mysterious lifeforms known as Miminashi (literally, no ears), and the only people who can stand up to the Miminashi are “Prayers” (literally, those who pray in offering) who can Plug In and pilot “Equipment” combat mecha. Echo, a boy living in a scrapheap town of Liverchester, witnessed the legendary Prayer Jimi in the great battle of Fes against the Miminashi a decade ago. Ever since then, he has held Prayers in great esteem. One day, Echo is excavating in a scrapheap as usual when he comes across Myuu, a girl with no memories and an empty audio input jack on her waist. She is also a Prayer. These fateful four form a guild entitled “Bishoku-dono” (“Epicurean Hall”) and embark on delicious adventures together.”

However, on his way there, he encounters a strange phenomenon and sweeps him up into the Digital World along with the other DigiDestined.”

Looks like this season will be about the same as winter season for me. I watched a total of 18 shows for winter season. I narrowed this season down from a potential 24 shows to 19. I was having a hard time keeping up with winter season but I managed to get it done! Which upcoming shows are you most excited for? I’m pretty stoked for BNA since I got a sneak peak of it at Kumoricon in November last year. I can’t wait for Tower of God since I keep seeing good things about it on Twitter. And of course you guys know how much I love P.A. Works so I am DYING to watch Appare Ranman! Looks like it is shaping up to be a pretty good watch season. That is going to do it for me today. I will work on my Winter Season Wrap-Up in the coming week since shows will be ending very soon. I hope you all have a great morning, afternoon, evening or night wherever you are in the world! Remember to always stay kawaii and cuddly my pandas. MUAH!

XOXO
