Wait…it’s March already?

I swear it was February just yesterday! I guess it doesn’t help that February is only 28 days long. Welp…it is indeed the month of March my pandas. Man! Now I feel bad considering I didn’t write that much content last month. I guess my personal life is starting to creep into my blogging life. As I stated in a few of my previous blogs I am cutting back on pushing out content. I have a full time job, I’m working on finishing my Bachelor’s degree, and also trying to balance my personal life all at once. It gets pretty hectic sometimes! I’m sure all of you guys can relate in some form or another. But I am here! I’m mainly over on Twitter these days, chatting it up with you all, and trying to come up with new ideas to jot down and present to you guys (when I get around to it XD).

If you didn’t know March is Women’s History Month. Women’s History Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. It is celebrated during March in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia corresponding with International Women’s Day on March 8. In the United States, Women’s History Month traces its beginnings back to the first International Women’s Day in 1911. (You guys can thank Wikipedia for the brief history lesson) 😛

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday will pay homage to strong, kick ass women in anime. We gotta show some love and celebrate all the killer female leads that have graced our presence over the last decade or so…because anime wouldn’t be the same without them. Buckle up kiddos! It’s about to be a bumpy ride.

1. Mauve from ACCA

^Beauty, brains, and a master manipulator. Mauve is one lady who doesn’t mess around.

2. Koko from Jormungand

3. Irisdina from Schwarzesmarken

^We love an exemplary leader willing to lay her life on the line for her team.

4. Rory from GATE

^I mean…Rory is literally the Goddess of darkness, war, violence and death.

7. Crusch from Re:Zero

8. Eto from Tokyo Ghoul

^My Queen of Queens.

9. Mumei from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

^You mess with the Mumei you get the horns.

10. Saya from Blood C

^Saya kills her own kind…if that doesn’t sound like a crazy badass then I don’t know what is.

Who are some of your favorite tough/strong-willed ladies? Did any of them make my list today? I wanted to feature some women you don’t see in the spotlight too often. It’s nice to have a mix of characters when I write these list. I also hate seeing the same characters talked about over and over again. I try to shake things up when I can! Thank you guys for joining me this Tuesday! Your continued patronage means the world to me ❤ I will catch you all in my next post. Until then have a good morning, day, or evening wherever you are! 😀

What is up my pandas? Welcome to the first post of December. We have finally made it to the last month of the year. Yup, it is officially the dreaded holiday season. As most of you know Halloween is my favorite holiday and I dread Christmas every year. I think I have reiterated this a dozen times now. *please don’t kill me*

I don’t mind doing Christmas activities and such…just not the biggest fan of the meaning behind Christmas. This is probably due to me not being religious what-so-ever XD With all of that being said for the month of December we will be going over some of my favorites from 2018! I would like to call this “A Year in Review.” This week we are going to cover my favorite anime opening songs from the year. Next week we will move onto my favorite ending songs. Pretty straight and narrow! I’m hoping to do a round up of my favorite blog post I’ve written throughout the year the week after next leading up to my favorite anime series for the year on Christmas. I think it sounds like a pretty good plan 😀

Sorry I have been inactive the last week or so. If you are following me on Twitter then you should have seen that I (along with a panel of judges) are working on getting the first ever WordPress Anime Awards together. We are finalizing the nominations and will be working on getting the polls together very soon so all of you guys can vote for your anime favorites! This is a very BIG and EXCITING project for all of us and I can’t wait for all of you to see the fruits of our labor.

So without further ado lets get into these opening anime songs! (P.S. these are in no particular order. I am just listing the ones I enjoyed/loved throughout the year. Also the honorable mentions this time around will be pretty large due to the fact that we are covering all of 2018).

The same could be said of ending songs but we will get to those next week. What were your favorite opening songs from the year? Did some of them make my list? It was hella hard narrowing down the choices to a top 10, but I definitely resonate with all the ones I picked. That is going to do it for me this Tuesday! I’ve got a few other things in the works for this month so keep an eye out for those my pandas. I’ll see you all in my next post! Much love from Oregon. XOXO

We are in the final two days of October. Yes my pandas, tomorrow is Halloween! I am super excited to bust out my cosplay and hit the town. It’s going to be ghoulishly delightful. Does anyone else have plans this Halloween? I wanted to go out Saturday evening but my boyfriend and I decided to stay home and watch As Above So Below. Tis a good psychological scary movie to watch if you haven’t seen it yet.

I am sad to see October go (considering I’m a Grinch when it comes to the rest of the year). Christmas just isn’t my thang if you know what I’m saying 🤷‍♀️ I do like doing festive activities and what not, I just don’t like Christmas. That’s probably because I’m not religious and I hate people 😂😂😂

Anyways…the last Top Ten Tuesday for October is all about my favorite villains in anime! Because nothing screams Halloween more than Ghost Face from Scream. So let’s get to chillin and killin with these anime villains!

tumblr_mrupc3vdK91rzgt2so1_500

4. Miach from <Harmony>

^Who doesn’t love a brilliant, intelligent, and manipulative antagonist? I know I do.

5. Tatsuhiko from Bungou Stray Dogs: DEAD APPLE

^If you haven’t seen Dead Apple yet what the hell are you waiting for?!

6. Death Gun from Sword Art Online: GGO

^Wish this Arc could have been fleshed out a little better because Death Gun was an amazing villain.

7. Light from Death Note

^Villains all have to come to an end eventually.

8. Fumito from Blood C

^One of the best characters you hate to love and love to hate.

9. Su Won from Yona of the Dawn

^Su Won is another one of those villains that I have a love hate relationship with.

10. Elsa from Re:Zero

^Sometimes you just need a hot lady who will rip your guts out and eat them ❤

I just realized how many guys are on this list compared to girls but that’s okay! It wouldn’t be called Top Ten Tuesday if I had more than ten choices XD That is going to wrap up my last Halloween-y post of the month! I had so much fun creating all of these post for you guys this year. Hopefully I’ll have more spooky ideas next year! Also I am bringing back Featured Creator Friday for the month of November. My first interview will be up this Friday so keep your peepers peeled for that my pandas. I hope you all have a fantastic and safe Halloween. See you guys next month 😉

Disclaimer: All imagery and photos come from searching for them on the internet. I have no claim or right to them. If I find any links I will always post them (this usually entails fan art or any other work affiliated with an artist).

(Note: This post was written in October of 2017. I thought I would re-share it with all of you since my following has gone up. I also added number 6 to this list because Mary and the Witches Flower finally came out not too long ago. I am currently working on getting some interviews set up with other content creators so I can bring back Featured Creator Friday! I’m really looking forward to sharing these interviews very very soon. Get excited and stay tuned my pandas!)

We are just days away from Halloween and I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED I DON’T THINK I CAN KEEP MY PANTS ON!!! Well…I am not really wearing pants right now since I am still in my pajamas…but that’s besides the point. Today will probably be the last post I make before Halloween. I am going down to see my family tomorrow and won’t be back till either late Monday or Tuesday morning. So I hope you guys will be satisfied with today’s content!

We are getting witchy!

Today I am going to go over my favorite anime series that contain…you guessed it…WITCHES! I figured this was an appropriate theme for our Halloween festivities. Also I already did a list of horror/thriller anime earlier this month…so I wanted to spice things up a bit and do something different! You can check that post out here if you are needing recommendations for this weekend to get you in a spooky or creepy mood: https://kawaiipaperpandas.wordpress.com/2017/10/03/ttt-top-ten-tuesday-i-would-make-a-skeleton-joke-but-you-wouldnt-find-it-very-humerus/

1. Flying Witch

Anime synopsis:

“In the witches’ tradition, when a practitioner turns 15, they must become independent and leave their home to study witchcraft. Makoto Kowata is one such apprentice witch who leaves her parents’ home in Yokohama in pursuit of knowledge and training. Along with her companion Chito, a black cat familiar, they embark on a journey to Aomori, a region favored by witches due to its abundance of nature and affinity with magic. They begin their new life by living with Makoto’s second cousins, Kei Kuramoto and his little sister Chinatsu.

While Makoto may seem to be attending high school like any other teenager, her whimsical and eccentric involvement with witchcraft sets her apart from others her age. From her encounter with an anthropomorphic dog fortune teller to the peculiar magic training she receives from her older sister Akane, Makoto’s peaceful everyday life is filled with the idiosyncrasies of witchcraft that she shares with her friends and family.”

2. Junketsu no Maria (Maria the Virgin Witch)

Anime synopsis:

“Maria is a powerful young witch living with her two familiars in medieval France during the Hundred Years’ War against England. As the war rages on and the innocent get caught in its destruction, Maria becomes fed up with the situation and begins using her magic to try and prevent further conflict in hopes of maintaining peace. However, her constant intervention soon attracts the attention of the heavens, and the archangel Michael is sent to keep her from meddling in human affairs. The divine being confronts Maria, and he forbids her from using her powers, issuing a decree that her magic will be taken if she loses her virginity. Though she is now labeled a heretic, Maria adamantly refuses to heed Michael’s warning and continues to disrupt the war between the two nations. But as the Church begins plotting to take away the witch’s power and put a stop to Maria’s interference once and for all, her peacemaking may soon come to an end.”

3. Shuumatsu no Izetta (Izetta: The Last Witch)

Anime synopsis:

“In 1939 C.E., the imperialist nation of Germania invaded a neighboring country. All at once, that war spread throughout Europe, and the era was dragged into a spiral of a great war.

Then, in 1940, Germania’s attack turned towards the Principality of Elystadt, a small Alpine country abundant with beautiful water and greenery.”

4. Kiki’s Delivery Service

Anime synopsis:

“Kiki, a 13-year-old witch-in-training, must spend a year living on her own in a distant town in order to become a full-fledged witch. Leaving her family and friends, Kiki undertakes this tradition when she flies out into the open world atop her broomstick with her black cat Jiji.

As she settles down in the coastal town of Koriko, Kiki struggles to adapt and ends up wandering the streets with no place to stay—until she encounters Osono, who offers Kiki boarding in exchange for making deliveries for her small bakery. Before long, Kiki decides to open her own courier service by broomstick, beginning her journey to independence. In attempting to find her place among the townsfolk, Kiki brings with her exciting new experiences and comes to understand the true meaning of responsibility.”

5. Little Witch Academia

Anime synopsis:

“In a time when magic is on the decline amid society, Atsuko Kagari is a cheerful girl who enters Luna Nova Academy in order to accomplish her dream of becoming a witch like her idol, Shiny Chariot. Shiny Chariot is a famous witch who disappeared from public view many years ago. On her way to school, Kagari meets the kind Lotte Yanson and the mischevious Sucy Manbavaran and the three become friends as they share a bedroom in campus. At the academy, Atsuko soon discovers she is in serious disadvantage compared to the other girls since she doesn`t come from a magical family and is required to learn the magical curriculum from scratch. Having found an item that once belonged to Chariot, Atsuko must discover how to activate and properly use the mysterious Shiny Rod as she hopes it might lead to finding out what has truly happened to her vanished idol.”

6. Mary and the Witches Flower

Anime synopsis:

“It is Tib the black cat who leads Mary to the strange flower in the woods. When she discovers a little broomstick shortly afterwards, she is astonished to feel it jump into action. Before she can gather her wits, it is whisking her over the treetops, above the clouds, and into the grounds of Endor College, where: “All Examinations Coached for by A Competent Staff of Fully-Qualified Witches.”

Here she discovers evidence of a terrible experiment in transformation—deformed and mutant animals imprisoned in cages. In the moment after her broomstick takes off, she realizes that Tib has been captured. Returning to the College the following day, she manages to free the animals, but not before the Head of the college, Miss Mumblechuuk, and her colleague, Doctor D, have seen her. Mary manages to flee…but the evil pair is in hot pursuit!”

There are several more witchy anime out there but I haven’t seen them yet! I have seen a few episodes of Soul Eater and Soul Eater Not! so I would recommend those if you are looking to get into the festive spirit. I have also heard good things about Yamada-kun to Nananin no Majo (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches), Madoka Magica, and Witch Craft Works. Maybe I should check these ones out sometime soon!

Any other witchy anime you guys would recommend that didn’t make this list? I always enjoy hearing what you all have to say! Let me know in the comments section below.  I will catch you guys back here for my next post. Cheers! 😀

I also wrote an in-depth blog post last year going over what demons are and what they symbolize in different context (i.e. literature and other forms of media).
